Safety comes first
Wet, inclined or unprotected roofs present a serious fall risk. Solar systems also involve electrical hazards. When access is unsafe, trained personnel should handle the work.
Avoid abrasive tools
Hard brushes, metal fibers, powders, solvents and scraping tools can damage surfaces or coatings.
Avoid cleaning very hot modules
A sudden temperature change can stress the glass. Work should be scheduled when modules are not intensely hot and according to manufacturer guidance.
Never walk on modules
Solar panels are not walkways. Stepping on them can create microcracks or damage that is not immediately visible.
Professional cleaning adds inspection
A technician can also observe wiring, frames, connectors and the external condition of the inverter.
