Why won’t a solar inverter connect to WiFi?

Router changes, passwords, weak signal or compatibility issues can disconnect monitoring without necessarily stopping solar generation.

Why won’t a solar inverter connect to WiFi?

Note: This guide is informational. Roof access and electrical equipment should be handled with appropriate safety measures and trained personnel.

Monitoring and generation are different

When an app stops showing data, the panels may still be generating electricity. The problem can be the communication link between the inverter, router and monitoring platform.

Common causes

A changed WiFi password, a new router, an unsupported 5 GHz network, weak signal, a communication accessory issue or an equipment restart can interrupt the connection.

What you can check safely

Confirm that the router is working, note whether the network name or password changed and check whether WiFi reaches the inverter area. Do not open the inverter or manipulate electrical connections.

What reconfiguration does

Reconfiguration reconnects compatible equipment to the network and verifies that the monitoring platform receives data again.

Useful information for support

Share the inverter brand and model, the monitoring app name, the date communication stopped and any recent internet-service changes.
